On Saturday, 26 October, thirteen senior members, from Group 5 and Group 2, attended the Capstone segment of the Squadron Leadership School (SLS), which was held at the Punta Gorda Airport Authority conference room at KPGD.
Squadron Leadership School is a CAP Level II requirement. It provides CAP adult members with a basic understanding of CAP operations at the squadron level and how those operations affect CAP's national missions. Additionally, members learn more about CAP customs, core values, and communications. Case studies, discussion, and group assignments are integral facets of the SLS. This is a course opened to Senior members. Eligibility is as outlined in CAPR 50-17.
The course is offered in two segments. The first is the online portion, accessed only through FLWG website, and the second is the classroom “Capstone” session. After completing both segments members will be credited with accomplishing the SLS course and their eService personnel record will reflect the achievement.
Major Robert Corriveau, course Director, stated at the end of the course, "The course evaluations we got from the participants were positive – it was an enjoyable learning experience and the time spent was worthwhile."
