MacDill Air Force Base, Tampa, FL --

Major Joe Mora of the Civil Air Patrol honored the 927 Force Support Squadron with a Commendation of Appreciation for the excellent food service at the EAA Sun-N-Fun 2018 and USAF Air Fest 2018. Tech. Sgt. Jeffrey Horn with his capable and friendly staff provided delicious meals at both events. “The U.S. Military has made a science of food service in order to keep a military force at full mission capability” states Horn and the portable facility used at both events reflects that effort. This palletized, self-contained, portable kitchen can be quickly deployed worldwide and recently returned from Mildenhall, England. This remarkable unit consists of a 20’ x 30’ all weather tent, generator, sanitation sinks, work tables and a Unitized Group Ration (UGR) heater. The UGR is a pre-prepared block of food that can be quickly heated for feeding a large number of troops. Horn and his 7-person staff can feed up to 500 meals per day with this food service unit.
